Ok so, for me, Flickr is a very awesome discovery. As the only twenty-something without Facebook, one thing I constantly get asked about is, “but without Facebook, how can I see your pictures?” For the longest time I’ve been playing the “I’ll email them to you” game, which is always so time consuming. It had come to the point where, because I’m not a Facebook fan and I couldn’t figure out how to share photos with people (other than the old-fashioned print-and-show-in-person method) I basically shared my pics with very few people.
But I’m in a whole new world now thanks to Flickr! Not only do I not need Facebook to share my pictures with my friends, but I even had an old Yahoo! account sitting around not really being used. Talk about good fortune!
So, I took it upon myself to do a little bit of exploring (not to mention a little bit of uploading) and I found this picture that I thought was cute.
Yes, it pretty much sums up how I’m feeling today (thank goodness it’s Friday), but it also represents the breadth of images you can find exploring on Flickr. What I think is really neat about the website is that there are a lot of people posting very professional looking pictures. In other words, there’s a lot of artsy stuff to look at, and a lot of beautiful photos to browse through. I also took a gander at the “geotagged” photos and found some amazing pics of places that I have been to. It’s really quite a cool experience to see the world through someone else’s camera!
As a complete sidenote, I decided to take the opportunity to get familiar with Flickr by uploading some of my own photos from my 6-month volunteer adventure in South America. I’ve made them all public so they can be seen by my very special library friends. Visit me here!

Thanks Carol! I only put a very selected few up there. I thought I might crash Flickr if I tried to upload the bazillion or so pics I took
